It’s Blue for a reason

Blue Planet. Blue Marble. Blue Dot. The ocean is fundamental to all life on our planet. It generates 50% of the oxygen we breathe, absorbs 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions, captures 90% of the excess heat, and feeds billions of people worldwide. And much more… Its waters are heating up, and becoming more acidic. 13 million tonnes of plastic enters the ocean every year. Thousands of ocean species are at risk of extinction. Our blue planet is on the brink.

But out of sight doesn’t have to mean out of mind.

The ocean exists over the horizon. Seen or experienced by very few of us. Awareness, data, and funding for its protection are all sorely lacking. We know that bigger ideas, better communicated, can help change hearts, minds, and behaviours.
